Ontario Travel Trends 2025: Rediscovering Local Gems
For National Tourism Week (April 7–11) last month, a Destination Ontario study reveals that nearly 90% of Ontarians plan to take an overnight leisure trip within the province this year. This surge in domestic travel is revitalizing local economies and deepening residents' appreciation for Ontario's diverse offerings.
Top Travel Highlights:
- Preferred Destinations:Niagara Region, Toronto, Ottawa, and Muskoka lead as favored spots for short getaways, celebrated for their scenic beauty and accessibility.
- Culinary and Nature Experiences:Nearly 60% of travelers prioritize local cuisine, shopping, and nature activities. Visiting farmers' markets and dining at lakeside restaurants, especially in Niagara, Toronto, and Prince Edward County, are top choices.
- Seasonal Activities:Popular warm-weather pursuits include exploring small towns, scenic drives, hiking, outdoor dining, camping, cottage retreats, and swimming.
